She Went Wild is partnering with Pinnacle Sports to bring you this Women's Top-Rope Climbing Day in the heritage-listed Glass House Mountains

Schedule, Meeting Point + Facilities

7.45am - meet at Mount Ngungun carpark on Fullertons Road (click for map)

From Brisbane head North for about 60km, exit the Bruce highway onto Steve Irwin Way. Follow this road for approx 10km before turning left into the Glasshouse Mountains township. Follow this road around over the railway line. Note it becomes Coonowrin Rd . About 1km down the road is a right turn signposted for Mt Ngugngun. Take this turn and drive along Fullertons Rd until reaching the carpark about 1.5km from the intersection.

We will then follow the walking track for approximately 40 minutes to the cliffs.

With regards to toilets, there are facilities in the Town of Glasshouse (5 minutes by car down the road) , we suggest that all participants visit them prior to arriving. Once in the National Park, if you need to go, leave no trace ethics apply. 

3pm - you can expect to be leaving the carpark at 3pm.

What's Included?

  • 1-day top-rope rock climbing and coaching

  • Guiding + movement coaching from Peta Barrett of Pinnacle Sports who has over 20 years of climbing + guiding experience (pictured above!)

  • ALL climbing equipment provided

  • Transport to + from meeting point

  • including hiking shoes/boots

  • Food + water

What Will You Learn?

Yes, this is not just an experience day but a workshop!

You will learn about:

  • Climbing gear and what to look for

  • Explanation of top-rope setups ; anchors and dynamic rope

  • Tying into the rope with a rethreaded figure-8

  • Belaying using a 5-step process 

  • ABC checks before climbing and safety calls whilst climbing

  • Footwork fundamentals 

  • Handholds such as jugs, slopers, crimps etc

  • Body positioning such as flagging

  • How to properly warm up

  • How to sequence a climb before starting ; recognising specific handholds/positions 

Your guide will observe your natural climbing style before offering you technique adjustments which you will have the chance to practice and receive feedback on.

Your guide will also be able to tell you your average climb grade so that you know which grades you can comfortably climb and which you are working towards! 

Participant Guidelines

  • Minimum participant age is 8 years 

  • Participants under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the activity.

  • Participants under 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult to assist them with belaying

  • Not recommended during pregnancy

In the event of bad weather, we will aim to re-organise the event.

If you're unable to make the new date it we will offer you a full refund.
