Sunday 14th May // $220 + booking fee
Our one-day introductory abseiling / Rockclimbing activity is designed for participants with little or no previous outdoor rock or rope experience.
Over the course of the day you'll learn:
- General Cliff Edge / Vertical Safety
- The Art of Safe and Efficient Movement On Rock
- Rope Handling
- Tying Knots
- Correct Belay Technique
On this course you'll also learn to select and use the latest in modern abseiling and rockclimbing equipment. Throughout the day your instructors will accompany you on a special selection of graduated rockclimbs and abseils.
We commence the day with a safety briefing and skills tuition and then undertake various short practice abseils at our specially selected abseiling area. The skills we cover include the fitting of harnesses and the use of descending devices, familiarisation with the important safety procedures and how to use the correct abseiling skills and techniques. While we encourage fun and adventure your instructors will also teach you the important skills you need to go abseiling safely! Afterwards we will head out to tackle some more challenging abseiling descents.
After lunch we will dedicate the afternoon to a session of top-rope rockclimbing which will be geared to accommodate all participant's and their various fitness and skill levels. This climbing activity is also an excellent building block for those who have experienced an indoor climbing or bouldering session. This program is offered on a "challenge by choice" basis and you are free to go as high or as far as you feel comfortable, you will never be in an environment where the only way for you to get home is to do something you are not confident with!
This course is run by highly experienced Nationally and Internationally qualified Senior Instructors from the Australian School of Mountaineering. All specialist abseiling and climbing equipment is provided for your use.
